• Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology in the Era of COVID19

The pace at which the health and financial consequences of COVID19 have pervaded society has left us in an overwhelming state of stress. Science and medicine have generated theories that normally are tested over time, but the precipitous climb of mortality and morbidity left us scrambling for answers and hanging our hopes on treatments that ultimately proved ineffective or in some cases hazardous. This presentation will parse out the scientific facts from theory regarding neurological sequelae of COVID19 exposure and how medications prescribed for mental health conditions may interact with treatments used for COVID19.

Tuesday | Nov 10 | 4:00 PM PT
• Ethnic and Cultural Disparities in Pharmacotherapy for Mental Health Disorders

Factors such as ethnicity, gender, age, skin color and have a substantial impact on how patients respond to behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy. Influences from cultural perceptions to differences in liver enzyme polymorphisms can assist Prescribing Psychologists in determining optimal medication choices or when behavioral therapy may be more suitable than pharmacotherapy. Attendees will gain an understanding of the complex cultural and genetic factors that affect medication response.
