Science and medicine have generated theories that normally are tested over time, but the precipitous climb of mortality and morbidity left us sc rambling for answers and hanging our hopes on treatments that ultimately pr oved ineffective or in some cases hazardous. This presentation will parse o ut the scientific facts from theory regarding neurological sequelae of COVI D19 exposure and how medications prescribed for mental health conditions ma y interact with treatments used for COVID19.

Disparities in Pharmacotherapy for Mental Health Disorders<
br />Factors such as ethnicity, gender, age, skin color and have a su
bstantial impact on how patients respond to behavioral therapy and pharmaco
therapy. Influences from cultural perceptions to differences in liver enzym
e polymorphisms can assist Prescribing Psychologists in determining optimal
medication choices or when behavioral therapy may be more suitable than ph
armacotherapy. Attendees will gain an understanding of the complex cultural
and genetic factors that affect medication response.
