CPA's planning committee is organizing its 2024 Spring Symposium to be held on a Friday (and possibly a Saturday) in late April or Early May in the Denver metro area. 

The topics to be addressed at this event are:
  • Navigating social media and its effects on your clients.
  • Navigating social media and how it affects your psychology practice.
  • How to practice telepsychology safely across states. (This education must fulfill the PSYPACT CE requirements - see below)

  • Mindful Social Media Engagement and Fostering Healthy Online Habits

  • Building Resilience: Empowering Teens to Manage Social Media Stress
  • Cyber Wellness: Equipping Teens with Mental Health Tools for Online Spaces
  • Online Peer Support Networks: Leveraging Social Media for Mental Well-being
  • Parental Guidance: Supporting Teens in Navigating Social Media Challenges
  • Identity Formation in the Digital Age: Exploring Social Media's Role in Teen Development
  • The Role of Educators in Promoting Positive Social Media Use among Teens
  • Empathy in Online Interactions: Cultivating Compassion in Teen Digital Spaces
  • Addressing FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and Comparison Culture on Social Media
  • Online Safety and Mental Health: Teaching Teens to Recognize and Respond to Digital Dangers
  • Using Social Media for Good: Encouraging Teen Advocacy and Support Communities

PSYPACT CE Requirements

The E.Passport holder must demonstrate 3 hours of continuing education relevant to the use of technology in psychology. Approved Continuing Professional Development for the E. Passport may include:

  • Academic Courses
  • Approved Sponsor Continuing Education

All continuing education must be directly relevant to the practice of telepsychology and would include, but not be restricted to any one or more of the following areas as defined in the APA/ASPPB/APAIT.

Telepsychology Guidelines:

i. Competence of the Psychologist 
ii. Standards of Care in the Delivery of Telepsychology Services 
iii. Informed Consent 
iv. Confidentiality of Data and Information 
v. Security and Transmission of Data and Information 
vi. Disposal of Data and Information and Technologies 
vii. Testing and Assessment when Providing Telepsychology Services 
viii. Interjurisdictional Practice

Relevance to the practice of telepsychology will be determined by the Mobility Committee.
